Scuba Diving & Underwater Photography

Diving

I started diving in 1968 and have been an avid diver, off and on, since then. I've been diving up and down the east coast from Florida to Nova Scotia, the Great Lakes, Florida Keys, California, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Bonaire, Cozumel, Roatan, Guanaja, Grand Cayman, and Belize. Diving is my favorite sport although it has had to compete with Backpacking and Backcountry Skiing in recent years. My favorite dive activities include: cruising the reef, looking for wee beasties for macro photography, night dives, drift dives, and designing diving equipment.

Underwater Photography

Currently I use a Nikon Nikonos V amphibious 35mm range finder camera and the SB-103 strobe along with the appropriate lens for the type of pictures I want to take on that dive including the Nikonos 35mm, 28mm, and 15mm lenses. Macro photography is done with 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, & 1:3 framers with extension tubes. For wide angle and standard photos I use Fuji ASA 100 slide film, for macro photography I normally use Fuji ASA 50 slide film. Slides are then scanned into the computer with a film scanner and digitally edited with Photoshop. InDesign or Ventura Publisher are used to create and print graphic arts posters.
